STAY.
Newly-renovated just days before we arrived, this small, family-run boutique hotel is everything you're looking for when you think of Swiss hospitality.
Although its finishes have been updated, the hotel has preserved its Valais charm, rustic Swiss style and century-old character. The rooms are spacious, complete with private terraces and views of the Matterhorn.
The new restaurant, Theodors Stuba, happened to be one of the best surprises. The breakfast and dinner were on point and reflected Swiss specialties again and again.
They also have ski storage and mini wellness center to chill after a day of skiing.

SIP.
Hotel Post - With 5 bars and lounges, Hotel Post has a variety of spots to hang. Upstairs, there's Papa Caesar, a classic lounge for sipping cocktails and chatting with friends. Downstairs, there's Broken Bar, a late night spot and one of the most legendary discos in the alps.
Hennu Stall - The #1 après ski experience. Located on the slopes, yet close to the base of the mountain, Hennu Stall is the best place to end your day. The indoor//outdoor bar offers beers, warm cocktails, hot chocolate and live DJ set.
Cervo Bar Lounge - A cozy lounge with apres ski vibes. A little more upscale than Hennu Stall, but still inviting for guests and locals alike.
Harry's Ski Bar - A bar from skiers for skiers. Located in the Matterhorn Lodge in the heart of Zermatt, Harry's has been open for over 100 years. Traditional apres ski at it's finest.
Mont Cervin - This hotel houses a great outdoor bar that boasts beautiful over the village and Matterhorn.
SNACK.
Chez Vrony – Must do. This mid-mountain spot boasts beautiful views of the Matterhorn and farm-to-table specialties. I recommend sitting outside on the deck with a cheese and meat platter and a glass of red wine. Chez Vrony is accessible via tram to Sunnega or by ski.
Blatten – A mid-mountain must. Blatten is only accessible via skis, so unbuckle your boots and enjoy lunch or a warm hot toddy before finishing up a day on the slopes. Plus, the produce is local and the views are beautiful.
Le Gitan – Another rustic-cozy favorite serving Swiss classics like lamb, meat and raclette. Gitan was certainly a favorite located in the center of the village.
Restaurant Schaferstube – An authentic Swiss establishment serving local traditions. You can expect classic red tablecloths, wooden tables, and rustic finishes. The cozy lower level of Hotel Julen makes this the perfect après ski dinner filled with fondue and lamb specialties.
Restaurant 1818 – A Michelin-star dining experience bringing gastronomy to the mountains.
Stefanie’s Crepes – The best crepes in town are found in this hole in the wall. Enjoy a sweet or savory treat after a long day of skiing.
Restaurant Cervo – A modern twist to traditional Swiss dishes. Cervo brings a contemporary flavor in both it’s food and vibe. As mentioned above, the lounge has also become a favorite après ski spot.
Theodors Stuba - Located in the Walliserhof Hotel, this newly-opened restaurant is exactly what you're looking for when you come to Zermatt, with the most delicious Raclette and a cozy atmosphere. I had the pleasure of eating breakfast every morning here, which didn't disappoint. The selection of meats, cheeses, smoothies, eggs was divine.
SKI.
The skiing in Zermatt is obviously the highlight - The highest ski resort in Europe that allows you to ski in two countries 365 days a year.
Buy the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise ski pass to experience both the Swiss and Italian sides. Spend the morning in Zermatt, Switzerland and the afternoon in Cervinia, Italy.
Rent at Glacier Sport Ski + Hike - We rented from here because it was close to our hotel, but the experience was seamless and quick.
With such high peaks, heliskiing is super popular and highly recommended for more advanced skiers.
